Bike Class, Fat Bike Rentals, Winter Trails Day!

This Saturday its disc brakes, and more disc brakes.  Today we will discuss both mechanically actuated disk brakes and hydraulic disc brakes.  We will identify, adjust, discuss brake caliper adapters, address different size rotors, and determine what types of fluid are used by different brake manufacturers.  Class will go from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m..  The double doors on the North East side of the building, directly out of the parking lot as the front door will be locked.

We now have one medium Surly Ice Cream Truck,  a large Salsa Beargrease, and a large Framed Wolftrax for rent.  Charge is $45 per day and if you end up getting a fat bike we will take the first rental fee off the price of the bike.  Call ahead they go out quick for the weekend.

This Saturday the 21st is Winter Trail Day over at North Fork.  We will be there from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m. with fat bike demos. Its always a good time so if you get a chance come over and play in the snow with skis, snowshoes and fat bikes.  See you all out there.

Sale And Bike Classes On The Calendar

Its been a moment since we have been posting stuff but we now have the holiday sale discounts and the mechanic classes scheduled up on the calendar function of the website.  If you click on the sale on the calendar it will give you all the discounts which start this coming Friday and go straight through Christmas eve on the 24th.  Also the classes are scheduled through the end of January by topic.  In advance have a great Thanksgiving and we will see you right after for deals.

This Saturday the 13th we are going to be discussing wheels.  How a wheel works, determining spoke length, replacement of a spoke and the basics of how to true a wheel.  We will begin at 9:00a.m. and will go until around 10:00a.m..  Remember to come through the side doors of the building as the front door will be locked.  See you all there.

Bike Class! Hubs, Headsets, Bottom Brackets, Cranks

We will discuss hubs headsets, bottom brackets, cranks today. We will go over installation, removal, adjustment and repair of all the previously listed. Wear cloths that you don't care to much about because we will have hubs out to adjust if you would like the experience.   Class begins at 9:00a.m. and will end around 10:00a.m.  Come through the double doors located on the North East side of the building directly out of the parking lot as the front door will be locked.

Bike Class Saturday The 23rd, Hydraulic disc brakes!

This coming Saturday the 23rd in the bike class we will be continuing our discussion of disk brakes and will focus on hydraulic systems. We are going to discuss different types of hydraulic brake fluids and where and when they are used in different conditions as well as what companies are using fluid wise. We will go over the tools generally needed as well as safety gear needed while working on these brakes. We will be bleeding a Shimano brake system and then discussing different techniques with other companies. As usual class will start at 9:00a.m. and will go until approximately 10:00a.m.. Use the double doors on the North east of the building.

Saturday January 16th. Spin Class Starts! Bike Class Will Start Disc Brakes!

This Saturday the 16th we have a few things going.  Spin class starts at 10:15a.m. and will go until 11:15a.m..  This spin class will focus on a fitness test to determine where you are at so you can track your progress as the series continues on.  Each class will cost $5.00, and you will need to bring your bike, your riding gear and water.

Bike class this Saturday will start the discussion of disc brake.  I will be breaking disc brakes into two classes, the first will discuss the basics of disc brakes, brake pad differences and selection, mounting of the caliper and then an adjustment of a mechanical disc brake as well as a hydraulic brake system.  The Saturday following is when we will discuss bleeding brake system, fluid types ect.

Bike Class, Saturday January 9th. Rim Brakes.

We will be working with all types of cable actuated rim brake systems.  We will identify, describe, adjust, and replace brake pads on all types of rim brakes that are currently used on bicycles.  We will begin at 9:00a.m. and will end around 10:00a.m.. Bike Class Start Saturday, Framed Fat Bikes, Fat Bike Day Saturday!!

There's a lot going on this weekend.  Starting this Saturday December 6th at 9:00a.m. we will begin our annual bicycle maintenance series from 9:00.m.-10:00a.m..  As usual come through the double doors on the North/East side of the building located towards the back of the parking lot.  This weeks subject is basic maintenance, for a complete description check out the calendar feature at skylinecyclery.com

We have Framed fat bikes that will be built and on the floor by Saturday.  In route are two Minnesota 2.0 in an 18" size, and a Minnesota 3.0 in an 18" as well,  we are excited to have stock back on the floor. The 2.0 models go for $900, and the 3.0 goes for $1100.

The Global Fat Bike Day Utah is this Saturday as well and will begin at 10:00a.m. in the Rainbow Gardens parking lot.  We will have a couple of Mukluk 3.0 models up there for a rent.  We have a medium and a large, the large has a Rockshox Bluto on the front.

Bike Class And Spin Class Saturday February 1st

This Saturday we will continue with spin class and bike maintenance class.  Spin classes will be held at 10:00a.m. and again at 11:30a.m., if you would like a spot in either call ahead or send an email so we can reserve you a spot.

Basic maintenance will be the subject this Saturday. This will be a repeat of the first basic maintenance class taught in December for all those that may have missed it. This Saturday we will cover a description of all the components and how a bicycle works.  We will then discuss how to clean, lube and inspect your bicycle to  keep it running well. We will also remove wheels from the bike, remove a tire from the wheel and identify and patch a hole in the tube. Class will begin at 9:00a.m. and will run for approximately one hour ending at 10:00a.m., plan on arriving a little early and come through the double doors and the North East side of the building.

Bike Class December 21st, Update On Holiday Sales!

At this point in the holiday season we have received about five new orders to replenish our stock.  We are currently sitting with good stock in all the categories of accessories and have on hand full size runs of bikes for your holiday gift giving. Kids bike numbers are still good with at least two bikes per size for both boys and girls.

As far as last orders we will be placing our last bicycle orders by 12:30p.m. on Wednesday the 18th to make sure that they arrive in time for the holidays. Last parts orders for all parts outside of Utah will be on Thursday December 19th by 5:00p.m., all parts available here in Utah will be shipped no later than Friday the 20th at 5:00p.m..

Bike Class, Saturday December 14th

Last Saturday we went over basic maintenance of a bicycle in the bike class and despite a stinking snow storm we still had people here which was great.

This coming Saturday December 14th in bike class will be assessing, describing, removing and reinstalling cables and housing to both the derailleur and brake systems. We will also cover chain wear, removal, installation, and we will go over the use of master links. Class will begin at 9:00a.m. and will end around 10:00a.m.. Come through the double doors an the North East side of the building as the front door will remain locked so we can concentrate.

GoPro Hero3 plus Cameras Are In, Bike Maintenance Class this Saturday.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Our first shipment of GoPro Hero3+ cameras have arrived and are ready for sale, we have three on hand right now.

Our annual bike maintenance class will begin this Saturday the 7th of December.  Class will begin at 9:00a.m. and will run through 10:00a.m.. Plan on arriving about 5 minutes early so we can get started promptly.  This class will focus on basic maintenance and will provide the foundation for further classes down the road.  We will discuss cleaning, lubrication, inspection of your bicycle, and then we will remove a tire, patch a tube and then reinstall the wheel back onto the bicycle.  If you have any questions send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Calendar Updated Through February 2014

I just finished updating the calendar through the end of February 2014.  All the holidays that we are going to be closed are listed and I put a complete schedule of all the free bike classes that are taught Saturday mornings starting in December and ending in February up with descriptions of each. I am looking forward to teaching this season I hope getting the schedule up early will allow all of you that are interested to plan which classes you want to attend.  Thanks as always.

Summer Basic Manitenance Class, June 30th

Usually I have only taught maintenance classes in the fall and winter but we have had so many requests that I will be teaching a basic maintenance class on June 30th at 9:00a.m..
